Who we are

Community Evaluation Northern Ireland, ceni, was established in 1995 as an independent not-for-profit organisation providing a range of services in monitoring and evaluation to the voluntary, community and statutory sectors. Prior to 1995 ceni existed as a branch of Charities Evaluation Services UK (1991-95).

ceni's mission is to enhance the effectiveness of the voluntary/community sector through a better understanding and use of evaluation. ceni is seeking to promote a more inclusive approach to evaluation which contributes to learning and development within the organisation whilst also providing a rigorous mechanism for accountability.

CENI's aims

  • To promote an awareness of evaluation and its benefits
  • To develop the evaluation capacity of the voluntary sector
  • To develop and promote best practice in external evaluation
  • To influence the development of policy on evaluation in the voluntary/community sector
