CENI
Who we are

We were established in 1995 to provide specialist services in monitoring and evaluation to help strengthen the voluntary and community sector.  A not-for-profit support organisation, we are part funded by the Department for Social Development and also generate income from our evaluation, training and research services.

As a voluntary organisation, we understand the issues and problems faced by the sector and are committed to its development. Voluntary and community organisations are under increasing pressure to better demonstrate the outcomes or benefits of their funded activities and improve their performance. We work with these groups to help them measure and show the difference they are making, plan and manage their work and provide better services to their users. We also work with funders and Government departments and agencies as part of our commitment to ensuring that evaluation is built into decision-making and planning processes.

Our Mission
To enhance the effectiveness of the voluntary and community sector
through a better understanding and use of evaluation.

Our Aims
  • Promote a broader awareness and understanding of evaluation
  • Develop knowledge and skills in evaluation
  • Assess performance and contribute to organisational learning
  • Inform policy and good practice in the conduct of evaluation

Our Values
Our work is underpinned by the values of empowerment, user involvement, participation and partnership working. We are also committed to sharing good practice with others involved in supporting the sector and providing networking opportunities for practitioners, funders and projects.

CENI is registered as a charity with Revenue and Customs and as a Company Limited by Guarantee in Northern Ireland.
