Outreach Service - Information
Information/training Sessions for
Community Groups - Introductory sessions raise awareness
of the purpose and use of evaluation, supporting groups to meet
funders' evaluation and monitoring demands as well as utilising
evaluation to inform planning and project development. Sessions
are tailored to needs and vary from facilitative discussions with
staff, one-hour workshops and more detailed half-day or full-day
programmes.
Examples: CENI has
worked with a number of community and voluntary organisations and
their funders. These include: National Council of YMCA, NITAP, New
Opportunities Fund, Community Foundation NI - Weak Community Infrastructure,
Community Development Learning Initiative, Strabane District Council
- Community Services, Voluntary Arts Ireland, Women's Aid North
West, Ashton Community Trust and many others. Full-day sessions
can be offered at a reduced rate to community network agencies,
but many shorter taster sessions are free.
If you are a network agency and would like to host a seminar, workshop
or training day on the theme of evaluation for your network please
contact: Gladys Swanton - Training Manager at CENI
email gladys@ceni.org or telephone

Training -
Through funding from the Big Lottery CENI will be offering further
training and support to community and voluntary groups within priority areas. There will be more about this 3-year funded project,
which will be kicking off in September 2005, at a later stage. Please
contact CENI/training if you would like to find out more about training
opportunities.

Ways
in which participants put learning into practical use...
We are currently planning a new Sports Club. We will use
the processes presented here to guide us through planning
and implementing evaluation– CDLI course participant
I plan to approach the Project Team and propose that we
include evaluation in the staff induction – Ashton Centre
participant
The advice session was very useful in helping us to put
together a funding application for an external evaluation
as we did not have a budget. As a result we were successful
in accessing additional funds. Women’s Group
