About Research & Development

As Northern Ireland’s only dedicated support body on evaluation, we are committed to identifying and responding to the voluntary and community sector’s current and future evaluation needs. We also work to promote best practice and influence policy to ensure that evaluation is built into decision-making and funding processes.  We do this by initiating research and developing new ways to evaluate which aim to support and sustain the sector.

Some examples of our research work include:

  • Development of a framework for measuring the outcomes of community and voluntary activity, using social capital indicators (2003)
  • Development of a tool-kit to measure social capital in local communities (2004)
  • Royal Irish Academy sponsored research to develop a methodology to baseline social assets including social capital in local communities (2006)

For details of our current research, please see the Current Research section.
