ceni training and support services - delivery options

Through its training programme ceni aims to develop models of training and support in evaluation relevant to the changing needs of the voluntary, community and statutory sectors. Through regular review of evaluation and monitoring needs across a broad range of constituencies ceni seeks to ensure that training and support products are appropriately designed and delivered taking a number of dimensions into account:

Client type, Evaluation processes (eg planning, data collection, analysis, reporting), Levels/Intensity/Depth/Format, Duration, and Price

Customised training and support: When it comes to evaluation it is never a case of ‘one size fits all’ and designing customised evaluation training programmes involves working closely with clients to identify training and support needs and devising flexible responses within the resources available. In some cases the focus may be on self-evaluation - looking at the client's specific needs in relation to planning, designing, implementing and using self-evaluation. In other instances concentration may be on the external evaluation process, or a combination of both may be required. The duration and depth of support is often dependent on the budget available, however ceni makes every effort to ensure that the client receives value for money and a process which will be effective in achieving results. Customised training, therefore, may vary from one-off introductory sessions to more in-depth packages offered over a period of months, providing a combination of formal sessions and one-to-one or small-group work. See client examples for more on customised training

Standard training courses: Through the provision of standard courses, individuals (whether staff, managers, or volunteers) can avail of introductory training on a choice of set dates throughout the year. These can also provide a good starting point from which to further explore evaluation needs at organisational level. Visit training courses for more on standard training.
